The Aces Release Sophomore Album ‘Under My Influence’ Today!
“The Aces manage to top themselves once again” – Billboard
“Between the ethereal harmonies and lead guitarist Katie Henderson’s excellent licks, this is the band firing on all cylinders.” – E!
Following a slew of critically acclaimed singles, The Aces debut their highly anticipated sophomore album, Under My Influence, out now via Red Bull Records. Get it here! Spanning across 14 tracks, the long-awaited album is the band’s most vulnerable and authentic project to date, exploring themes of love, sexuality, mental health, friendship and more, each with The Aces’ signature flair. Co-written by The Aces in addition to serving as executive producers, the band also tapped notable collaborators including Justin Tranter, Jesse Shatkin, Zach Skelton, Mike Green, Kyle Shearer, Christian Medice and more for the project.
“We began writing ‘Under My Influence’ with one thing in mind: if the vulnerability scared us, we were headed in the right direction and we had to keep going” The Aces explain. “It’s been a journey of growth, healing, love and above all, honesty. Not only with the world, but with ourselves. ‘Under My Influence’ is a rebellion. Creating this album was an opportunity to take everything we’d ever been taught and question it. An opportunity to choose who we wanted to become, unapologetically and on purpose. These songs are our stories. Thank you for listening.”
From the opening chords of their irresistible pop-infused single “Daydream,” Under My Influence is The Aces at their best yet. Unleashing a steadily maturing, unapologetic confidence, The Aces’ second album showcases the band’s sonic evolution and continued exploration as artists. A complex snapshot of their lives, each track on Under My Influence embraces not only where the band has been, but where they’re headed. Whether it’s lamenting on love and loss in a new city on “Lost Angeles,” reminiscing their hometown of Provo, Utah on “801,” delving into the pressures of social media on “My Phone Is Trying To Kill Me,” or exploring gender pronouns in their lyricism for the first time on “Kelly,” Under My Influence is a bold reflection of the band members’ own experiences, told with thoughtful introspection and universal relatability.
