PYNK BEARD (Sebastian Kole) announces his signing to Red Bull Records alongside the release of his new single, “Sip”, the third offering from his debut EP, Red Dirt Diaries coming this fall. “Sip” arrives with an official music video that sees PYNK BEARD tending the bar at the beloved Mom’s Basement in Birmingham, Alabama – his hometown. All it takes is one ‘sip’ and he’s transformed from bustling bartender to electric performer, setting the stage ablaze.
PYNK BEARD joins Red Bull Records’ genre-diverse, boundary-pushing roster of talent, including House of Protection, James Vickery, Morgan, Joony, among others. Reflecting on the meaning of “Sip”, PYNK BEARD continued: “This song is just about letting your hair down. This is a powerful new chapter in the story of songwriter Sebastian Kole. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama as a preacher’s son, he grew up directing the church choir and moonlighting in country bands, weaving country soul, R&B, and gospel influences into his own music. Across his storied career, he’s been an instrumental writer on six different GRAMMY-winning and nominated projects with milestones that include writing hit songs like Alessia Cara’s #1 singles “Scars to Your Beautiful” and “Here”, as well as standout tracks for Alicia Keys, John Legend, Halle Bailey, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Lopez, among others.
Having given up on the idea he could ever be an artist in his own right, he dyed his beard pink, assumed a new name, and grasped at the opportunity to embrace a genre of music he’d always loved but previously felt like he had to suppress – country. With an alias like PYNK BEARD, it goes without saying that he’s bringing something different to the genre, grills and all.
PYNK BEARD’s new music is a thrilling ode to the diversity of the modern South and the many multitudes he contains. In April, he released his first single, “I Lived”, a tale of a reverend’s son who hails from the outskirts of Birmingham. In June, the dance floor stomp “Mine, Lord Willing” followed, a two-and-half-minute honky-tonk and ode to the incredible women in his life.
