rouri404 Commissions Producer SAY3AM To Remix Glitchy Emo Track “decay” Featuring Vaeo

Following his breakout EP crows, Orlando’s fast-rising emo artist rouri404 returned today with a reimagined version of his latest single, “decay”. Featuring longtime collaborator Vaeo, the pair call on producer SAY3AM to deliver a phonk remix fit for club rotation. Building on rouri404’s cyber-influenced emo sound, SAY3AM injects frenetic beats and powerful bass, reminiscent of Fred Again’s emotive style. He seamlessly enhances “decay” with added grit and a bit of stutter to the already heavily layered track. The remix feels like a natural evolution to rouri404’s unique production and refusal to be defined by one sound.

On the remix, rouri404 shares, “I often don’t collaborate outside of my close circle of friends, so getting to do a “decay” remix with SAY3AM was a welcoming challenge. After finishing up my EP “crows” I started talks about a potential remix for any song off the EP. We all agreed “decay” would be amazing for a remix & started throwing ideas around, ending up talking about the Phonk scene that has been going up online the last couple of years. After shooting some names back and forth I found a good handful of artists in this scene I really connected with, started talks and landed on SAY3AM. Originally trying to collaborate over text, we decided calling for a couple of days would be a lot easier, during which we got to learn a lot more about each other. Without failure my favorite part of collaboration is just seeing how other people interpret what I say, and making it into their own piece of art.”

rouri404 Delivers Anticipated EP crows With New Single “decay” and Official Music Video

rouri404 today released his five-track EP, crows. The project debuts brand new single, “decay” featuring alternative artist and long-time collaborator, Vaeo. A culmination of the past year of releases that displays his personal growth and sonic evolution, rouri404 makes a statement with crows, vacillating from glitching emo screams to drum and bass kicks in a cohesive package. As an artist who refuses to confine himself to one style, he masters them all on the EP and ushers in a new wave of soul-baring emo with pop and electronic undertones.

On creating crows, rouri404 shares, “After recording “smile” I had a super strong feeling that it had to be the first track on an EP, and that I really wanted to just make a project where every song hits hard with as little downtime as possible. For the production, we tried to push a lot of sounds and ideas we touched on in the past to the limit, and lyrically I just wanted to be as vulnerable and clear as possible. My main goal with the project is that anyone will be able to listen and take it as their own. I hope that any of these songs could possibly help someone feel less alone and that their feelings are heard and can be expressed no matter how bad.”

Rounding out the EP, today’s single “decay (feat. Vaeo)” arrives with an official music video directed by Pilot Lee. The visual brings the viewer into isolated spaces with rouri404, stitched between home video-style footage that mirrors the DIY tone of the track. The duo are no strangers to working together, and their dynamic relationship radiates across the screen and throughout the intensity of the song.

On “decay” rouri404 adds: “‘decay’ was the last song we made for ‘crows’. After finishing up all the other songs on the EP, my producers and I agreed we needed one more hard-hitting song. After finding a weird/interesting guitar loop from our friend RJ Pasin, I recorded a quick eight bars and felt it had a different energy from all the other tracks. Lyrically, I just wanted to be direct with emotions I had been feeling at the moment. After losing my grandmother late last year, my mind had just been in a bad place and I started isolating myself from a lot, spending time thinking about how little control we really have over our lives. Being able to get those kinds of feelings out so clearly, and record and produce it all with my closest friends has been an experience I wouldn’t trade anything for.”

rouri404 Leans Into Raw Emo Stylings on New Single “shotgun carousel”

rouri404, today released his gritty new single, “shotgun carousel”. Following a year of head-rush hyperpop singles, he further explores the raw emotion and intensity of alternative and emo, incorporating a visceral screamo element influenced by formative bands like Bring Me The Horizon. “shotgun carousel” arrives with an official video that brings to life a cathartic release of pent-up emotions that’s both healing and haunting.

rouri404 shares, “‘shotgun carousel’ is one of those few songs I was able to fully put myself into, letting all outside noise & problems of reality go away for a moment. All the pieces fell together very quickly, and it was super therapeutic just being able to get in a flow state of mind with all of my closest friends and collaborators. The lyrics are very much just a venting of anything and everything I had been feeling at the moment, whether feelings of hopelessness and life being wasted, or just the loss of somebody you love, through heartbreak or death. I have also always taken inspiration from the “SAW” franchise, trying to replicate that same feeling of dread from the first films into music somehow. So I took the name “shotgun carousel” from there, using the scenes with that trap as a kind of “vibe setter” for the lyrics and overall sound.”

Since emerging from the SoundCloud scene, rouri404 has continuously evolved his sound, embracing elements from a variety of genres and cybercultures. His latest work showcases his ability to turn introspection into art, with tracks like “spit” and “numb” pulling back the curtain on his boundless production. Stay tuned for more to come from rouri404.

rouri404 Returns with New Genre-Bending Single “spit”

rouri404 released his next hard-hitting track, “spit”. Effortlessly balancing the fast-paced drum & bass kicks with the indie spirit of math rock, the single brings an unfiltered energy that rips through your speakers. rouri404 introduced the label to his genreless sound with his spring EP, chlorine, which saw him cohesively fuse hyperpop with pop-punk and emo rap. At just 21-years old, he has a knack for inducing nostalgia through multi-era works that lend to a DIY style yet are perfectly produced.

On the new track, rouri404 shares, “Flipping Good Charlotte’s ‘The Anthem’ on its head with drum ‘n bass and math rock isn’t something I ever expected to do, but it might be my new personal favorite track. I started this one just blurting out ideas until I said ‘I would never wanna be just like you’ and it hit really hard. We based the drop section around that and crafted the rest of the song from there. Production was a really big focus on ‘spit’, trying our best to keep the sound raw and unrelenting while also being super cohesive. I wanted the listener to feel something during the drops, keeping the mental image of a car smashing into a brick wall or getting hit with a bat for the drop while creating it.”

rouri404 Releases His Debut EP chlorine

Bridging nostalgic 2000s emo with futuristic hyperpop melodies, rouri404 has perfected a genreless blend that defies the ordinary. His inimitable sound was what attracted Red Bull Records, today announcing his signing and debut EP release on the label, chlorine. Spanning three tracks including the new single “numb,” rouri’s raw talent at just 21-years old shines through the package in his punchy lyricism and potent vocal delivery. From “motion sick” to the fan favorite “fisheye,” he’s taken influences from DIY rap stylings and infused his own brand of pop-punk to produce a gritty yet meticulously crafted offering.

rouri404 shares, “I think having fun is the most important part of creating music and ‘chlorine’ reminded me of that over the past year. Going into this EP I wanted to focus heavily on the energy of the tracks and make sure they have huge high moments that seamlessly come back down to a super personal almost nostalgic melancholic feeling. We took a lot of inspiration from early 2000s pop punk & emo and really just my overall childhood, trying to capture that raw energy and emotion of being a kid who doesn’t know what to do in life.”
