Artist – IRONTOM

irontom

Discovered and mentored by Aaron Bruno of AWOLNATION, this band fronted by the amazing lead singer Harry Hayes melds 70s rock with a modern edge. – Greg Hammer (@hammertime68)

Artist – Pinegrove

pinegrove

The band originates from my town of Montclair, NJ. They remind me of a great mix of Vampire Weekend and the story telling of Chris Carrabba. I was hooked the first I heard the track ‘Old Friends’. Evan’s vocal sound is both distinctive and original. He actually references the Port Authority Bus Terminal of NYC in the track and yes, ‘it’s a fucked up place!’ – Joe Guzik (@joeguzik)

Artist – FLAWES

flawes

FLAWES are truly ELITE players. Musically somewhere between Disclosure and Coldplay. When I saw them perform a few songs in a London rehearsal studio after only being together for 2 months, I was blown away. Check out Don’t Wait For Me and Misunderstood live from Mack Sennett Studios and you’ll see what I mean. – Joe Calitri (@joecalitri)

Artist – Roosevelt

roosevelt

Singer – Songwriter with strong synth pop / indie rock influences. Think Glass Animals meets Chromeo. Music for your hipster bud’s summer BBQ or after party. “Fever” is a solid example of what to expect – Michael Volk (@michael_volk7)

Artist – Warm Brew

warmbrew

Venice Beach rap trio brings a fresh look to the Hip Hop world from the West Coast – Kenny “Tick” Salcido (@tickdragon)

Artist – Majid Jordan

majidjordan

Smooth vocals, haunting bass lines, and dreamy pop melodies comprise the sound of this Indie/R&B Canadian duo. If Phil Collins and Timbaland ever decided to put out an album, it’d be Majid Jordan. – Chris Belonis (@christobelonis)

Artist – Anderson.Paak

andersonpaak

One of my favorite choices that The Recording Academy made in 2016’s Grammy nominations. His 3rd release, “Malibu”, marries hip hop, R&B and soul for masterful storytelling. – Jessica Clements (@djsnax)

Artist – The Garden

thegarden

The Garden twins are effortlessly cool – blending cartoonish energy with sociopathic charm in their live performances and releases. Over the last few records they’ve quickly developed their sound into something that’s daring and unique, injecting humor and disperate influences into truly bizarre compositions. – John Moses (@youngbloods___)

Artist – Car Seat Headrest

carseatheadrest

The band’s first album on Matador, Teens of Denial, is both ahead of its time and reminiscent of Nirvana-era indie rock. Clever, insightful lyrics over masterfully crafted dynamic rock songs. – Jamie Garabedian (@glenn__murray)

Artist – The Aces

theaces

Their song “Stuck” really took off in 2016. It’s a contagious indie / alt gem that you can’t get out of your head. They played with Jenny Lewis last summer and made all the 2017 Ones to Watch lists! – Katie Addis (@katie_addis)

Artist – DJ Harrison

djharrison

The multi-instrumentalist and prolific beatmaker from Richmond, VA has been putting out buttery summer tunes under his moniker DJ Harrison and with his band Butcher Brown. He’s begun to play with greats like Questlove and Christian Scott. 2017 or 2018 is the year where we’ll all recognize this heat. – Nic Chang (@nicsaan)

Artist – SUSTO

susto

The alt/indie group’s music brings brutal honesty and a southern edge to the table with their relase ‘& I’m Fine Today’. Look for the band to do big things in 2017. – Paul Wright (@oh_wright_on)

Artist – Jessie Reyez

jessiereyes

Toronto based singer/songwriter combines endearing lyrics with incredibly powerful acapella tonality. Her 2016 single “Figures” opens a painfully truthful dialogue of how true love can overcome vengeance. – Lee Cauble (@leecauble1)

Artist – Skott

skott

Lorde and Katy Perry have already given shout outs to this new Swedish songstress, and with her recent signing to Sony, her distinct left-field pop sound is bound to take her far in the coming years. – Craig May (@mrbarb)

Artist – AJ Tracey

AJtracey

Currently breaking through the UK grime scene with his punchy tunes. Starting the year with a sold out UK tour, 2017 is going to be a big year for him. – Jim Lennox (@jimlennox)

Artist – Tash Sultana

tashsultana

21 yr old multi instrumentalist from Melbourne. Selling out shows across Australia, Europe & UK. Latest single ‘Jungle’ reached #3 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 chart. Tash Sultana (@nicknickbray)

Artist – Ásgeir

asgeir

After breaking the majority of musical records in his native Iceland, Ásgeir’s first album received great success in its electronic-indie folk niche across Europe. His second album (through One Little Indian) is set for release this year, which I believe will be an excellent cross over success story. – Joe Kettle (@joekettle)
